VoiceCompose Privacy Commitment & Data Standards

Last updated: July 2026

1. Audio Data Handling

VoiceCompose activates the microphone only when you press the global hotkey (default Option+Space). Audio data is processed strictly in-memory for real-time transcription, never saved as files to local storage, and never transmitted to audio collection services.

2. Transcription History & Local Storage

Transcribed text history is stored exclusively on your Mac in a standard local JSON file. We do not sync your history to any remote servers. You can permanently wipe your entire history at any time with a single click in settings.

3. AI Services & Data Transmission

VoiceCompose operates no developer servers. AI text polishing requests are sent directly from your Mac to your configured LLM API provider (e.g. OpenAI-compatible APIs or DeepSeek). When using local Whisper (whisper.cpp) and local Ollama, all processing runs 100% offline locally on your device.

4. System Permissions Explanation

To provide its core functionality, VoiceCompose requests 3 macOS permissions:

  • Microphone: Captures voice input when actively recording.
  • Speech Recognition: Required for system-level Apple Speech transcription.
  • Accessibility: Required to insert polished text directly into your active text field and simulate Enter key press.

5. Contact & Support
